• They add a living chi: This adds vitality to the usualy predominantly straight lined and patterend look of the interior spaces. Adding live plants and leafy patterns adds natural vitality to a space.
• They promote good fortune: Plants represent the wood element so they complement the Wealth, Family and Fame areas well. “Lucky Bamboo” and jade plants are especially lucky.
• They counteract Sha Chi (harmful energy): Place plants in front of sharp angles and corners to protect from secret arrows of harmful energy. In the workspace, if your desk is in the path of chi coming in the office door, a small potted plant placed on the far side of your desk, between you and the door, will act as a buffer. Tall plants with a strong vertical shape can help offset the oppressive chi of overhead beams or a slanted ceiling.
• They absorm excessive water Chi: Especially in the bathroom or laundry room. Tall plants with a strong vertical shape are especially good for this purpose, as they help to counteract the draining effect of plumbing. Ivies and other trailing plants are not a good choice for the bathroom because they grow in a downward direction. Plants and shrubbery can also be used outdoors around a swimming pool in the Fame or Relationships position, to help balance the effect of water chi in those areas.

Living plants are best for any of these uses, so long as they are Healthy.
